About Matty
Matty Malone’s work captures the vibrant spirit and raw beauty of the American Southwest. Originally from the Seattle area, Malone relocated to Arizona in search of sprawling open views, and new adventures. Classically trained in fine art since the age of thirteen, Malone pursued a degree in Art History, Museum Studies, and Fine Art at Northern Arizona University. She quickly fell in love with the region's western culture, colorful geography, and endless variety of landscapes.
Since graduating, Malone has spent a career managing art galleries and art education studios, bringing a deep understanding of both the technical craft and the broader context of visual art to this practice. Alongside her business and education career, she is breaking out in the Phoenix and Scottsdale art scenes with a new southwest-inspired body of work.
Malone's paintings are from personal exploration: hiking through desert terrain, kayaking down the Colorado River, canyoneering through slot canyons, and discovering rarely visited places. Each piece reflects a location where light plays on the earth’s surface, casting hues and shadows that expand and transform in her imagination. For Malone, these moments are not just visual experiences but emotional ones. Color becomes the language through which those feelings are expressed.
Through bold brushwork and a passionate commitment to color, Malone's work invites viewers to experience the Southwest as it has been lived, one breathtaking mile at a time.
